Scots to focus on Support as 'see me' launches national photography competition
We use photos to capture the most important moments in our lives: family occasions; time spent with friends; images of those closest to us. We also snap views, animals, random shots – whatever makes us happy or thoughtful.
‘see me’ is Scotland’s national campaign to end stigma and discrimination of mental ill health. We know that minds are changed with pictures as much as words.
Our annual photo competition brings together your pictures alongside your thoughts about mental health and wellbeing. Could you be one of our 2010 national winners?

Show your support.
This year we want your most creative expressions of Support. It could be anything from Roman pillars to football fans to life support. Just link it with mental health in any way you like and send it in.
We welcome photographs from anyone in Scotland; no matter your age, where you are or how experienced at photography you are.
There’ll be local competitions across Scotland, with three winners from each being submitted to the national final.
The closing date for all entries is 17th September 2010.
How Do I Enter?
Download a copy of the entry form and guidelines. Complete the entry form giving as much detail as you can.
Post the entry form, along with a hard copy of your photo (one per entrant) plus a digital copy of the photo (on CD or similar) to your local host. Your entry must be with your local host by 17th September.
Each local host will hold an exhibition and a judging panel will award prizes to the winners of two categories:
- Entrants who are under 18 years of age on 17th September 2010
- Entrants who are over 18 years of age on 17th September 2010
- There will also be a ‘people’s choice’ prize voted for by the public at each exhibition.
These three winners from each local host will go forward to a national final hosted by ‘see me’.
You could be a prize-winner; and you could help ‘see me’ to tackle mental health stigma and discrimination. Your chance of winning is just a click of the shutter away!
This year, ‘see me’s national photography competition is sponsored by Semichem, the high street’s leading discount health & beauty retailer.
Semichem is committed to the important issue of people’s health and well-being both for its own employees and for the people in the 100-plus communities it serves throughout Scotland.
