Timetable For Action
There will always be opportunities to get your message across – think about what’s already happening – and use it as a springboard for your own action.
In a world of competing demands for time and resources it is important to put time-scales and deadlines against your actions.
It is not possible to do everything at once. Often smaller or ’one off’ activities can generate interest that can then be built upon. Having both short and long term objectives is important. If you identify partner(s) to work with resources can be shared – either financially or in time and commitment. This provides the basis for developing a plan – the plan can be as long or as short as you feel able to deliver.
Consider when your event or activity is taking place and create a timescale of what you want to achieve by certain weeks/days. Agreeing a timescale with everyone involved will make the project run smoothly and hopefully to deadlines. Agree who will be responsible for certain elements and have regular review meetings to check on progress. The Quick Planning Tool in the resources section will prove useful for setting a timetable.
Remember to be clear about:
- Your objectives
- The target audience
- Your actions (and how they will help you achieve your objectives)
- Any deadlines
- What resources you need (and who will get them)
- Who’s doing what
