The following questions should be considered if you are planning any form of communications for example a poster, leaflet or advertisement. In fact regardless of what type of communication you are planning completing a communications brief is always a good idea.
What do you hope to achieve with this piece of communication? What are your defined aims and objectives?
Who is the target audience?
What is the main message?
What do you want your audience to do or think as a result of the communication?
What tone should the communication adopt?
What communications channels have you considered to reach your target audience - newsletter, email, workshop/meeting, leaflet, poster etc?
What format have you been considering? E.g. leaflet or poster size
Are there any guidelines on imagery and style of imagery to use/not to use? eg positive not negative, colour not black & white.
Are there any constraints? eg logos, campaign-look, are there existing templates you can use to save money?
Is there any supporting material? E.g. part of an existing suite of material, reference material, market research
What is the competition? E.g. what is your communication competing with for your audience’s attention?
How will we know if the communication works (ie evaluation)?
What is the delivery date?
Who is the project manager and who are the approvers?
What is the budget?
