Hello, my name is Johanna Wagner, I am a film student at Edinburgh College of Art. I am currently working on a documentary on schizophrenia. My focus is to do a portrait of one or several people who suffers or has suffered from the disorder. The focus will be on how they are coping with it now, their past experiences and the help they received etc. The purpose of the film is to try to rise awareness and also understanding the experience of living with the disorder. For research purposes I am looking for people who would be willing to share their story or experience with me, in order to hear different accounts and build up a picture of it. As well as research I am also looking for characters in my film to portray, so if you would want to help me out in any small or big way (even if its just for a quick chat), it would be much appreciated and helping me out a great deal!
I have made previous films on mental health, and one of them "The Inner Shape" was shown in the Mental Health and Arts festival in Edinburgh in 2009. I am hoping to make a small contribution to the debate on mental illness, where i feel that these difficult subjects need to be discussed openly and every opportunity should be taken to enlighten people on mental illness.
