Small grants available for projects to tackle mental health stigma with BME Communities

Invitation to a project workshop!

What is this all about?

We know that the stigma associated with mental health problems creates real barriers for people talking about it and seeking help. ‘Mosaics of Meaning’ - ground breaking work with Black and minority ethnic (BME) communities across Glasgow – shows us that a variety of approaches work to reduce stigma. We are now offering small grants to extend anti-stigma work with BME communities across Scotland.

What is on offer?

NHS Health Scotland will be providing small grants of £3,000 and hands on support to the 4 successful projects between July and December 2010. We will select and fund projects which demonstrate clear outcomes, are creative, unique, and most of all effective in targeting mental health stigma in BME communities.  The successful projects will also get the opportunity to share their outcomes at the national Mental Health & Race Equality Programme event in December 2010.

Who can apply?

We welcome applications from a wide variety of sources.  Anyone who works broadly in health or mental health improvement, equalities, BME communities or any combination, across the voluntary sector and public sector can apply.  If you want more information please contact Arma Sayed This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
