Stigma Stop Watchers have a part to play in improving
the quality of mental health coverage. All you have to do is report
back to us on good or bad practice wherever you find it.
We want to hear your comments on any stigmatising press
items which match the points in this checklist:
Stigma |
The
incident involves use of inaccurate or inappropriate reporting of
mental health issues. |
Media |
The incident has
appeared in the media, whether it be a TV or radio programme newspaper
or magazine article, editorial or advertising. |
Verified
|
Full details of
the stigmatising incident are supplied, including source, date and
name of the person responsible. Where possible,
copies of articles should be sent to Stigma Stop Watch ‘see
me’ 9-13 Maritime Street, Edinburgh, EH6 6SB |
Current |
The report is sent
within one month of the occurrence of stigma. |
We’ll then decide whether to share your information on the “see me”
website to give other Stigma Stop Watchers the chance to send in messages
of praise or complaint on this or other stigmatising coverage. We may also
issue alerts (by email or post) to all Stigma Stop Watchers to ensure a rapid
response where an issue needs to be addressed quickly.
